USPTO has issued a new examination guide regarding the changes being made to office action response periods for Actual Use applications (Section 1) and US applications that were originally filed in another country (Section 44 applications). Instead of the current six months, trademark applicants will now have three months (with an optional three-month extension) to respond to those office actions subject to the new deadline. This change doesn’t apply to Madrid Protocol section 66(a) applications.
