Jeff Bezos keeps an empty chair in Amazon meetings to represent the customer as the most important person in the room. We do the same thing at Greer Injury Lawyers.

Every week, my paralegal and I meet to review cases. There's always an empty chair at the table in my office for our client who can't be there, but whose life depends on the decisions we make in that room.

When we're debating whether to push a case to trial or accept a settlement offer, that chair asks: What does this person actually need to rebuild their life?

When we're preparing for a deposition, that chair reminds us: Someone trusted us with the worst moment of their life.

When we're deciding how aggressively to pursue discovery, that chair demands: Are we doing everything possible to win this case?

The empty chair keeps us honest. It makes sure that every conversation includes legal strategy AND human impact because behind every case file is a real person. Someone who can't work because of their injuries, someone whose medical bills are piling up, someone whose family has been devastated by an unforeseen injury.

CLIENT FIRST is our number one core value. It's not just a sign on the wall. It's a chair at the table. And it has a voice in every decision we make.

Thomas Greer, Ronald Young, and I were all in court today for motions, orders, and trial dates. Just another day doing the work we love. But it hit me differently today.

Six years ago, Thomas took a chance on me as a young attorney. He didn't just teach me the law, he showed me what quiet confidence and integrity look like in practice. That stoic excellence he brings to every case shaped how I approach this work.

Now I get to do the same for our newest attorney, Ronald, whose big personality and energy remind me daily why this profession needs all types to succeed.

We have three completely different personalities but one common core value: excellence in every case, every client, every courtroom appearance.

This is what great firms are built on. It's not just about winning cases, it's about raising up attorneys who care as much about the work as we do.

Grateful for where I've been. Excited about where we're going. (Also, I thought I'd better get some pictures of us actually in suits instead of our usual jeans).

14 years married today.

People sometimes ask how I manage being a lawyer with everything else in life. Honestly? It's because of him. Personal injury work is intense. Emotionally, mentally, and time-wise. There are late nights, tough cases that stay with me, and moments when the weight of it all feels heavy.

He's been there through every bit of it. He doesn't ask me to care less about my clients or work less hard. He just reminds me to come up for air.

Every time I fight for a family whose life has been turned upside down by injury, I'm reminded why this partnership at home matters so much.

When someone gets hurt, it affects everyone they love. The spouse who becomes a caregiver. The kids who don't understand why things changed. The financial stress that threatens everything.

My job is to fight for those families and to take on insurance companies and negligent defendants so my clients can focus on healing and rebuilding. I can only do that because I have someone at home who's fighting alongside me.

14 years of him showing up, believing in what I do, and making sure I don't lose myself in the work. That's partnership.

A client stopped by today to pick up her settlement check. She brought me these beautiful flowers with a card that said 'For an extraordinary friend.' That's what this work is really about.

When someone gets hurt because of another person's negligence, they're going through one of the hardest times of their life. They're scared, they're in pain, and they don't know who to trust.

Our job isn't just to win cases. It's to walk alongside people during their darkest moments. To listen. To fight. To make sure they're treated with dignity and respect by insurance companies who just see them as a claim number.

Moments like today remind me why I do this work. My clients aren't case files—they become part of my life. And when we reach the finish line together, it means everything.

If you or someone you love needs someone who will actually fight for you, that's what we do here at Greer Injury Lawyers.

My husband and I recently took my niece to Disney for the first time over her fall break. Standing in front of the Millennium Falcon, watching her light up with excitement, these are the moments that matter.

But here's what I think about as a personal injury lawyer: when someone gets seriously injured, they don't just lose work time or rack up medical bills. They lose THIS. The family trips. The silly matching t-shirts. The patience to wait in long lines because you know the smile at the end is worth it.

They lose the ability to walk around a theme park all day. To lift their kid onto their shoulders to see the parade. To feel present and pain-free enough to actually enjoy the moment instead of counting down until they can sit down or take another pill.

When talking about "damages," we shouldn’t limit them to just dollar amounts on medical bills, lost wages, and physical injuries. It’s also about those lost experiences. Time. Memories that should’ve been made but never will be. A spouse who had to cancel the vacation they'd been planning for a year. A parent who can't pick up their child the way they used to. A family whose entire dynamic shifted because one person's injury changed everything.

At Greer Injury Lawyers, that's what we fight for. Not just compensation, but acknowledgment that what was taken matters. That those moments, those experiences, that quality of life, they had real value.

Every case I take, I think: what did this injury actually cost this person? Not just in their bank account, but in their life. Because at the end of the day, we're not promised unlimited trips to Disney. We're not promised unlimited anything. When someone's negligence steals those moments from your client, that's what you're standing up for in that courtroom. Those moments? They matter. And they're worth fighting for.

I became a personal injury lawyer because I believe in fighting for people when they're at their most vulnerable. But the longer I practice, the more I realize it's not just about the verdict. It's about how we do it.

A few months ago, I took on the role of managing attorney at our firm. And I realized something: the way we treat our clients, our staff, and each other matters just as much as the outcome we deliver.

We can win big AND do it the right way. We can be aggressive in the courtroom and compassionate in our relationships. We can chase the highest verdict while building a firm where people actually want to work. We can prepare relentlessly without burning out our team.

This is what I'm committed to building: a practice where excellence isn't just about the numbers—it's about who we become in the process. That's the firm I want to lead. That's the legacy I want to leave.

If you're a client looking for representation, I want you to know we'll fight for every dollar you deserve—and we'll do it with integrity.

If you're an attorney, I want you to know there's a different way to practice. A better way.

The verdict matters. But how we get there matters more.
