Successful negotiations also depend on clear communication. Active listening, thoughtful questions, and a genuine effort to understand the other party's goals often uncover common interests that lead to better solutions. Rather than simply dividing value, the parties can frequently create additional value through cooperation and long-term collaboration.
Flexibility is equally important. A willingness to improve an agreement—without sacrificing essential interests—often produces better results for everyone. Trust, earned through honesty, reliability, and fairness, lays the groundwork for lasting business relationships.
