📰 Key Development for Victims of Sexual Abuse in Juvenile Detention Centers 📰

Last week, I posted about the admirable move by the Pennsylvania legislature to pass two bills that would allow many victims of childhood sexual abuse to finally have their voices heard in court.

Adding to the momentum is another positive development, this time out of New Jersey, where the New Jersey Supreme Court has officially designated allegations of sexual abuse in state-run juvenile detention centers as multicounty litigation (MCL), consolidating these cases in Middlesex County under Judge Kaplan.

Consolidation of these cases means these cases can move faster and in a more coordinated way, putting pressure on monolithic actors like the state government to give these victims their due and focus on implementing measures to prevent incidents like this from happening to others.

Let’s hope for more good news like this in the near future!

⚖️ Big News out of Pennsylvania for Childhood Sexual Abuse (CSA) Victims ⚖️

PA House Democrats voted unanimously to pass two bills that would give survivors of CSA a two-year window to file civil lawsuits—even if the deadline to sue had already passed.

Having spoken with CSA survivors, I've heard time and again the reasons why they felt they could not speak up as a child—whether it was fear of retribution, a perception of stigma, shock/trauma, or simply feeling like no one would listen.

For many of survivors, the passage of legislation like this may be the first real opportunity to hold the perpetrators, or the institutions that empowered and protected them, accountable. It’s not just about compensation; it’s about being heard. But without these type of "lookback" statutes, these survivors are forever barred from seeking justice.

To the PA Senate: do the right thing by these victims, and pass this legislation into law.

🚨 HIDDEN CAMERAS FOUND IN BATHROOMS IN NORTHWELL HEALTH SLEEP DISORDER CENTER AND REHAB ON LONG ISLAND 🚨

This one hits close to home--I was married in Manhasset, where the perpetrator, a Northwell employee, illegally spied on thousands of innocent patients at Northwell Health's Sleep Disorders Center and STARS Rehab Center. The thought of family, friends, and neighbors visiting a medical facility--a place of trust--and having their privacy violated is gut-wrenching.

The Nassau County DA's office is looking to identify potential victims who may have been secretly recorded inside a Long Island sleep center's bathrooms.

One of the best parts of starting my own practice has been reconnecting with former colleagues and meeting professionals both locally and around the country.

As I speak with folks about my new firm, the first question I’m typically asked is “what kind of law do you practice?” So here’s the short version!

I’m a litigator – that means I represent clients in resolving disputes, typically through lawsuits or negotiations.
