FACDL makes a few good points on Florida Executions:

Florida Is Accelerating Executions. But with the Most Death Row Exonerations in the Country, Transparency is Critical.

1.) Questions about compliance, training, drugs, equipment and safeguards are not frivolous questions.

2.) The Death Penalty Information Center confirms that Florida has exonerated more people from death row than any state in the country. Florida is one of the few states nevertheless that allows a jury to recommend death on an 8-4 vote, instead of being unanimous.

3.) When government exercises the most irreversible power it possesses, scrutiny is not an inconvenience. Defense lawyers asking whether the State is following its own rules are not obstructing the justice system. That is the justice system.

Tony Romo pleads no contest to OWI (operating while intoxicated) offense, addresses immediate future ahead of NFL season

Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo pleaded no contest Tuesday morning to a civil offense for driving under the influence. He loses his DL for 6 months, 1 year Interlock, fines and an alcohol course.

“I own this completely,” Romo wrote on Instagram.

Tony Romo pleaded no contest after his Wisconsin arrest. The former Cowboys quarterback faces citations involving OWI, open intoxicants and unsafe passing.

Driver with 'Drive Sober' plate arrested for DUI, Department of Public Safety says, DPS said the driver admitted to consuming alcohol before driving; when the trooper administered a field sobriety test, the test came back with a BAC of 0.199.

Oklahoma: Prosecutors and Law Enforcement Prepare for New DUI Law

A new Oklahoma law will soon change how repeat misdemeanor DUI offenses are handled when a person is arrested for a second DUI while the first case is still pending.

Under the new law, a person will no longer be able to avoid enhanced penalties simply because the first DUI has not yet resulted in a conviction. If someone is arrested for a DUI and then arrested again for another DUI while the first case is pending, the second offense will be treated as a second DUI within five years. A second DUI conviction carries enhanced penalties, including the possibility of jail time.

Florida Is Different

Florida generally takes a different approach. If a person is arrested for a second DUI while the first DUI case is still pending, the second DUI is generally treated as a first DUI for purposes of enhanced DUI penalties if there has not yet been a conviction for the first offense.

In other words, the timing of the conviction matters. In Florida, a person generally must have been convicted of the first DUI before a subsequent DUI can qualify for enhanced penalties based on that prior conviction.

The key distinction is that Oklahoma's new law is designed to address repeat DUI arrests occurring while an earlier DUI case is still pending, whereas Florida's enhanced DUI penalties generally depend on a prior DUI conviction.

The City of Fort Collins, Colorado has agreed to pay a man a half a million dollars after he was arrested in 2021 for driving under the influence, while sober. A blood test proved it.

Same officer arrested 5 people under similar circumstances. All 5
had their cases dismissed after their blood results cleared them.

An internal investigation found in at least nine instances, no alcohol or drugs were found in blood tests for people then-Officer Jason Haferman arrested for DUI.
