Me (in court last week), questioning an officer: “well, isn’t it true that instead of it being a broken part of the door damaged from burglary, this item could have been….the thing that is on the floor between one part of the house and the other part of the house, in the floor, that transitions the flooring between two parts of the house?”

A probation officer sitting ten feet away, whispering aggressively: “Threshold. You are wanting to say ‘threshold.’”
