Before I begin this life changing story, I hope it inspires you to never hold your head down during hard times. Never give up on your faith, trust or religion, always believe in yourself, & trust the process…
I’d been a lawful permanent resident for 21 years, the first time I applied for my naturalization citizenship. I applied in August 2016, then charged with attempted homicide in January 2017, which resulted in my citizenship application being denied.
Remember what I say in the begin? Never give up on your faith, trust or religion, & trust the process. A year and a half I fought for my life and freedom, despite the DA’s plea deal offers. June 2018, I was acquitted on all charges, but the fight for freedom continued. It was time to face the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services yet again.
I was acquitted on a Friday, I texted Ms. Wana Saadzoi, Esq (she’s a criminal justice attorney who take calls/texts 24/7, how convenient is that) on a Saturday, who scheduled a meeting for the that following Monday. My 1st impression of her was confident, smart, calculated and poised.
After telling Ms. Saadzoi my situation, the 1st thing she said to me was, “we’re going to help you get your citizenship!” I was happy to hear that from my attorney with confidence.
Now it was time to trust the process, which in total took a year and 7 months....My green card expired January 2019, so Ms. Saadzoi helped me apply for my green card renewal & I received it July 2019. Ms. Saadzoi then helped me submit my naturalization application in August 2019. I receive a notice in December 2019, that my naturalization citizenships interview was scheduled for January 2020. Ms. Saadzoi prepped me twice for my interview which was much needed and great help.
I don’t have a Criminal record but anytime u get fingerprinted, there’s record of that. Therefore, you should never go to the USCIS without an attorney.
I passed my test, but because of my record the USCIS office couldn’t give me an answer on the spot. Instead, my application had to be reviewed.
Speaking from my experience with Ms. Saadzoi, she’s who you want to fight for you. But you must trust her process! Do everything she ask of you! Five days later I receive a notice saying they approved my application. Words can’t explain my joy and happiness after overcoming 1of the hardest journey of my life.
It wasn’t an easy road and I didn’t do it by myself because Ms. Saadzoi was there and available every step of the way. I felt like more than just a client to her. I felt like she really cared. As my attorney she taught me a lot over the year & 7 mos, and has motivated me to do even more.
Thank you so much Ms. Saadzoi! I appreciate everything you did for me from the bottom of my heart, thank you!
