Hi Neighbors,
A few tips on possible ice/snow this weekend:
If you park outside, cover your windshield with cardboard, sliding an edge under your windshield wipers to secure-if possible.

Drip faucets and open cabinet doors.

If you hear a loud clicking noise from your heat pump like I have the last 2 ice events, it's probably the fan blades striking a buildup of ice on the heat pump shroud around the fan. Turn your thermostat to off, blades should stop turning, then pour very hot water on the icy shroud or use a long screwdriver to knock off the ice. Turn thermostat back to heat, NOT emergency heat.

Charge up any small portable charging devices before you lose power so you can use to charge your phones if needed.

Feed the birdies.

Be VERY careful on snow and ice. Don't drive or walk if there's ice.

Several of my neighbors signed up to have our dryer vents cleaned yesterday and tomorrow. Justin from Vent Worx (336-446-9186) did a great job cleaning from the outside vent and from the dryer out. He was professional, courteous and had custom tools for the job. He even repaired my interior vent connection as well as measured air flow before and after. I highly recommend Justin and your dryer vent should be cleaned every 1-3 years depending on usage.

Setting your ceiling fans to clockwise position now really does work. I have an electric fireplace in my family room and immediately felt better heat circulation on low fan clockwise setting. Set switch between fan blades and motor to up position.

Cleaning refrigerator interior: Mix one tablespoon of baking soda to a quart of water, wipe on and rinse, dry. Avoid too much liquid around switches, lights controls unless you unplug first.

1. Set fans to clockwise with switch on motor for more efficient heat circulation.
2. Remove hoses from outside faucets
3. Change filters as needed
4. Watch your tire pressure as colder weather might require adding air
5. Donate to your fave food bank or pantry
