Important information for our Cassaday & Company, Inc. clients!
Today we recognize World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, which highlights the importance of protecting older adults and ensuring they have the support they need. As we age, having a trusted person in our corner becomes increasingly valuable.
Since financial exploitation represents the majority of elder abuse cases, one thoughtful way to add an extra layer of support to your financial accounts is designating a "trusted contact" or client advocate.
Think of it as an emergency contact for your investments. If your financial advisor can't reach you or notices changes that might indicate cognitive decline, they can check in with someone you trust to confirm you're okay or verify your information.
You can choose a family member, close friend, attorney, or neighbor who knows you well. Many people designate multiple contacts for added peace of mind. It's never too early to plan ahead and identify the people you trust most.
