Do I need a real estate agent to sell my home? It is searched thousands of times a month, and it deserves an honest answer.
The honest answer is that you do not legally need one. FSBO is legal and some sellers do it successfully.
Where the gap consistently shows up is in pricing accuracy, negotiation dynamics, buyer access, and contract management. Research shows FSBO homes sell for less than agent-represented homes on average, and the underlying dynamics above explain most of that gap.
