This week saw some tremendous results criminal side. Trafficking dismissed, for one.

Personally a client’s family was in court yesterday with them. Incredibly nice family, very supportive, and simply kind, which is something that is not in long supply these days.

Client’s family is very religious—Catholic—and client’s mother pressed something into my hand and said it was for help and protection.

She had given me a Miraculous Medal showing Mary standing over the serpent. This has been blessed by their priest.

Days like yesterday are why I practice criminal law.

Incredibly happy for two clients today. Traffic stop in eastern Oklahoma, law enforcement seized some h**p and cash.

Felony charges filed, and forfeiture filed. After a decent amount of litigation, felonies dismissed! Incredibly happy for my clients. Also, super thankful for their patience and trust.

WHAT A LONG, STRANGE, AND WONDERFUL TRIP IT HAS BEEN!

Ten years ago in October of 2014 I decided it was time to open my own law firm.

For those of you that know me better than others, you know that I like chess. As a logo, I chose the chess piece of a rook. The rook is the most defensive chess piece, and as a person that practices a lot of criminal defense, I felt it appropriate.

At the same time, a rook can also be very aggressive, given its ability to span the board.

Over the last ten years, I have been able to be humbled at the amount of trust that people place in my firm on their worst--and thankfully sometimes--their best days.

Nobody calls an attorney because they are having a great day. I get that. I hope that throughout the past ten years I have made bad days better.

I haven't done this alone, for sure. I have had the help of my clients, my colleagues, and of course, my legal assistants (at least the last three years). I have also had the help of many secretary-bailiffs and courthouse staff.

THANK YOU to everyone who has been along with me the last decade. It has been wonderful.
