Kathy Garrison recently celebrated her 50 year anniversary of working in our building as a legal assistant. This was her first job out of high school. She worked with Meryl Schroeder and then Mary Schroeder for many years, and I was fortunate that she stayed on with me after Mary passed away. Kathy was a hard worker who took pride in her work. We will miss her dearly.

August is National Make-a-Will Month...a good time to make sure your estate plan is in order!

04/28/2016

Leaving written instructions as to your wishes when you pass away is important for many reasons. Here are five reasons why everyone should have a Will and/or a Trust:
1. You get to choose who will be in charge of handling your affairs upon your death.
2. You get to choose to whom your assets will be distributed upon your death.
3. If you have minor children, you get to choose who will take care of them on a day-to-day basis as their guardian.
4. You get to choose who will be in charge of your children’s/grandchildren’s, etc. assets until they reach an age at which you believe they should be distributed to them outright.
5. You get to have peace of mind knowing that you have done what you can to take care of your loved ones following your death and to make that difficult time easier on them.
