A significant change in federal law has impacted most corporations, limited liability companies, limited partnerships, or other similar entities. The Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) was enacted as part of the Anti-Money Laundering Act to end the ability of corporate entities to remain anonymous. The CTA requires corporate non-exempt entities to file a beneficial ownership report. Additional information is available on FinCEN’s beneficial ownership information webpage:

Many companies are required to report information to FinCEN about the individuals who ultimately own or control them. FinCEN began accepting reports on January 1, 2024. Learn more about reporting deadlines.
