🎓 Washington, D.C. just earned the #1 spot in America!

A new 2026 study from Redfin and Glassdoor ranked the D.C. metro area as the BEST big-city market in the country for recent college graduates, beating out Boston, Dallas, Chicago, Miami and Austin.

Here’s why D.C. came out on top:

💰 $79,857 — Average annual early-career earnings

🏡 $320,000 — Typical starter home price across the metro area

💼 19 job postings per 100 workers — The highest among big cities studied

📈 Strong career opportunities in tech, government, consulting, defense and more.

The study also highlighted D.C.’s work-life balance, restaurants, culture and entertainment.

Of course, anyone living in the DMV knows housing affordability is still a major challenge. But when it comes to launching a career, the nation’s capital apparently has a lot going for it.

🌎 What if I told you that you could visit Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Korea, and England… without ever leaving the DMV? 👀

Believe it or not, there are places hiding in plain sight around Washington, DC, that look like they belong on another continent.

🇬🇷 GREECE — The National Capitol Columns at the U.S. National Arboretum.

🇮🇹 ITALY — The stunning gardens of the Franciscan Monastery in Brookland.

🇳🇱 THE NETHERLANDS — Colorful tulips blooming near the Netherlands Carillon in Arlington.

🇰🇷 KOREA — The beautiful Korean Bell Garden at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in Vienna.

🇬🇧 ENGLAND — Bishop’s Garden at Washington National Cathedral.

Some of these spots look like they were pulled straight out of a European postcard. And they’re all right here in our backyard.

👻 DID MANASSAS TEAR DOWN ONE OF NORTHERN VIRGINIA’S MOST HAUNTED HOTELS?

For decades, the Olde Towne Inn in Historic Downtown Manassas had a reputation for something other than overnight guests.

A ghost named Miss Lucy. 👀

According to local legends, guests staying in Rooms 50, 52, and 54 reported strange noises, mattresses moving, and even being lifted off their beds while sleeping.

One story was so bizarre that it made local news in 2012. A couple reportedly experienced unexplained disturbances before the wife claimed she saw her husband LEVITATING above the bed.

Hotel employees reportedly blamed Miss Lucy, a mysterious spirit said to date back to the Civil War.

Then, in 2023, the City of Manassas purchased the property for $5.75 million and demolished it.

The official reason? Redevelopment.

But here’s the creepy question…

🏡 Nearly $1 MILLION for the average home in Northern Virginia?!

The September 2026 numbers are in, and Fairfax County tops the list with an average sale price of $907,255, followed closely by Arlington at $899,096.

Meanwhile, Prince William County remains the most affordable of these five areas, averaging $620,440.

That’s nearly a $287,000 difference depending on where you buy in Northern Virginia. 🤯

And here’s what’s interesting: Fairfax County recorded 902 closed sales in September alone, more than double any other county on this list.

Dulles Airport looked like something out of a science fiction movie in the 1960s. ✈️😳

When Dulles opened in 1962, Northern Virginia looked VERY different.

The airport was surrounded by farmland, the terminal looked like something from the future, and passengers were transported to their planes in giant mobile lounges that could carry more than 100 people!

On November 17, 1962, President John F. Kennedy officially dedicated the airport.

More than 60 years later, Dulles has become one of the most recognizable landmarks in Northern Virginia.

Pretty incredible how much this area has changed.

An Ashburn, Virginia, man just pleaded guilty in a nearly $194 MILLION federal fraud scheme. 😳

David Rush, 49, was a former senior CIA official who prosecutors say invented classified government programs to obtain federal money.

When FBI agents searched his Ashburn home, they recovered:

💰 298 gold bars, acquired for approximately $46 million
💰 More than $2.1 million in cash
⌚ Dozens of luxury watches

The scheme also involved luxury properties in Florida and expensive vehicles.

Rush faces up to 20 years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for January 28, 2027.
