Holiday Hours, 2025: foremost - we know that emergencies happen. Sometimes the emergency is in the eye of the beholder sometimes it's a bona fide 'gotta' have a lawyer' emergency (that's a thing). So, we're always going to be available by email. With that in mind, we will give our staff time off Wednesday through Friday the week of 12.22 and Wednesday afternoon and Thursday the week of 12.29. Everyone needs to recharge and refresh. Our office building will be 'technically' closed.

Open 12.22 and 12.23; 12.29; 12.30 and morning of 12.31 and then 01.02.2026.

Keep your spirits up and your hearts light. Life can get heavy - but you're still breathing and so you have a chance. A chance to make a difference and be the you that you know is inside. Who you are is just fine with us and it should be just fine with you. God only made one of you and thus you are singularly unique in the universe.

As a reminder, Attorney Lisa McNiff Komorous will be starting at her new law firm, LMK Family Law on 01.02.2026 and will be available there.

Attorneys Ronald DeGraw, David DeGraw and Brock Veenhuis continue to wind down and are taking no new matters. If you have an existing matter with them, they will be available.

ANNOUNCEMENT

Schroeder DeGraw, PLLC will be closing its practice at 203 East Michigan Avenue, Marshall, MI on December 31, 2025. After 104 years of serving the community, we have made the difficult decision to close. Ronald J. DeGraw and David J. DeGraw will be retiring at the end of the year. Brock R. Veenhuis will be leaving private practice.

Lisa A. McNiff Komorous will continue to practice family law in Marshall. She will move a few doors down to 215 East Michigan Avenue, Marshall, MI, 269-457-7301 (that phone number will not be operational until the transition, so please continue to contact her at 269-781-9851 until notified otherwise). The name of her new firm is LMK Family Law, PLLC. She continues to accept new clients at Schroeder DeGraw. Any cases that remain open when she moves to LMK Family Law will easily transfer with her.

Clients with active cases with Brock should discuss file transfer or case resolution at your earliest convenience. Clients with Ron or Dave should call to discuss transferring or resolving their cases.

For clients who have Wills and/or Powers of Attorney stored at the office, please call to make arrangements to pick up your estate planning documents. We are committed to ensuring a smooth transition for our clients.

We thank you for trusting us with your legal needs for more than a century. We will miss seeing our friends and neighbors in the office, and hope to see you around town. We wish Ron and Dave the best in their well-deserved retirement.

Good news for survivors of domestic violence!

We are THRILLED to announce we will be opening an office in Marshall! Many thanks to the Marshall Community Foundation for their ongoing support and this Impact Grant award that allows us to fund our first year in the new office space along with many other elements to enhance services for survivors living in the Marshall area.

The office will provide space for non-residential services including therapy and support groups, legal advocacy and assistance with Personal Protection Orders, resources and referrals, financial assistance, and safety planning. All services are free and confidential.

We have already received an outpouring of support from the Marshall community and are so excited to share future details of our ribbon cutting celebration and Casino Night at the Marshall Country Club.

Thanks again to the Marshall Community Foundation for this amazing opportunity and supporting survivors in our community! 💜💙
