🚒 Big Appellate Win for Firefighters!!

Today, the Appellate Court of Illinois, First District reversed a pension board that terminated my firefighter client's line-of-duty disability pension.

The Court held the Board’s action was against the manifest weight of the evidence, emphasizing that a pension cannot be terminated absent satisfactory proof of recovery — not based on improper evidence.

This decision reinforces an important principle: pension boards do not get a do-over just because they don’t like the original outcome. The statute means what it says.

That principle matters. Firefighters who are injured in the line of duty are entitled to rely on the protections the Pension Code actually provides — and boards are required to follow it.

I'm incredibly proud of this result and proud to stand up for firefighters when it counts.
