Jan Johnson, CFP Helping Clients Make Smart Financial Decisions During Life's Transitions But fate was about to unfold in Jan’s life.

“Helping Clients Make Smart Financial Decisions During Life’s Transitions” is in Jan Johnson’s blood. Her dad started out by working as a stockbroker for Morgan Stanley Dean Witter in California back in 1986. He was one of the first Advisors to become a Certified Financial Planner™ (“CFP®”) professional. Simultaneously, Jan was working as a Registered Dietitian in her private practice, advising pa

tients on how to keep physically healthy, as well teaching students at the University level. After an emotional divorce, Jan found herself facing her own significant “Life Transition.” She sought the services of a CFP® professional, who helped sort out her investments and pointed her in the right direction to get all her questions answered. She had seen so many friends in similar situations get shortchanged, with some even having to file bankruptcy, and was determined not to do the same. Along the way, Jan discovered that she actually enjoyed the problem solving process she had just experienced firsthand. She found the process of setting goals, interviewing, analysis and evaluation skills were similar to what she was already practicing in her current career. At the urging of her dad, Jan entered the financial services business, and became a Certified Financial Planner™ professional herself in 2002, adding the technical skills necessary to help her clients achieve and maintain good financial health.

“Today, instead of Protein, Fats & Carbs, I help clients balance Stocks, Bonds & Mutual Funds, along with the softer, more human side of money,” says Jan. “I love mentoring clients in the art and science of financial planning and investing. My goal is to help you feel comfortable, confident and in control of your well being as well as your wealth, particularly during the potentially stressful times of life’s transitions.”

If you have student loans or other debt after graduation, you’re not alone. Debt is a reality for many college students after they graduate. Regardless of whether you’re graduating with student loans or credit card debt, making a plan to manage and eventually eliminate your debt can feel overwhelming.

With that in mind, we wanted to share a simple roadmap for starting to address debt post-graduation:

A good way to start managing your debt is to get everything out in the open. List your loans, credit cards, and any other balances so you know what you’re dealing with. While you do this, be sure to pay attention to interest rates and make a plan for how you’ll handle payments each month. When you’re organized, it’s easier to keep debt from getting out of control.

If you have questions about your financial picture or want to talk about investment strategies that can support you as a recent graduate, don’t hesitate to reach out. We are here to help.

As May brings more sunshine and renewed momentum, it is a great time to reflect on what is still possible.

There is no deadline on growth, and no expiration date on ambition. No matter where you are in your journey, you can begin again with clarity and purpose. And that fresh start does not have to be monumental to be meaningful. Often, the most impactful progress begins with one small, intentional step in a new direction.

As we move through this month, what is one goal or dream you are ready to revisit or take steps toward for the very first time? Feel free to share it in the comments. We would love to hear what you are working toward.

Our team wants to wish a very Happy Mother’s Day to all of the moms, grandmothers, and other maternal figures out there.

From the late nights of the newborn stage to the late nights waiting up for teens, we owe moms a debt of gratitude — and sleep!

So whether you’re a mother yourself, you’re celebrating your mom, honoring your partner, or recognizing another maternal figure in your life, we hope this day is full of appreciation.

April is a month of fresh energy and intention. The new season brings longer days, renewed motivation, and a great opportunity to take a closer look at the habits that shape our personal and professional lives.

This month’s quote is a reminder that excellence isn’t something we achieve once; it’s something we practice over time. Small, consistent actions lead to big results.

So, as you move through April, ask yourself: What habit are you committed to building (or rebuilding) this month? Let us know in the comments. We’d love to cheer you on!

Life insurance isn’t just about protecting your family in the future — it can also support you during some of life’s hardest moments. An accelerated death benefit (ADB) rider lets you access a portion of your death benefit early if you’re diagnosed with a qualifying serious or terminal illness.

It’s a feature many people don’t realize they already have, and it can offer important financial breathing room.

Curious whether your policy includes an ADB or wondering if adding one makes sense for your situation? I’m here to help you review your coverage and understand your options. Reach out anytime and we can take a look together.

A little planning today can help you avoid surprises later. Thinking about how this fits into your retirement income strategy, Roth conversions, or Social Security timing? I’m here to help you make sense of it all.
