Co-Parenting with the Person You’re Healing From

It’s one thing to walk away from someone who broke you.

It’s another to be legally tied to them through a child you love more than life itself.

You don’t get distance.
You don’t get clean breaks.
You don’t get the freedom to fully let go—because your child still has a relationship with someone you’re still unlearning.

It’s a daily contradiction:
Protecting your peace while preserving their connection.
Holding boundaries with someone who once crossed every line.
Smiling politely while your soul still aches in places they hurt and twisted.

You hear their voice in your child’s mouth.
You see their tendencies mirrored in tiny expressions.
And you have to remind yourself: your child is not them.

But it’s hard.
It’s so damn hard.

Because how do you heal from someone you still have to communicate with?
How do you unlearn survival mode when you still feel like you’re walking through a minefield every time you get a text?
How do you model peace when you’re still rebuilding from their chaos?

The truth is—you’re doing it.

Even when it feels impossible, you’re doing it.

You’re learning to pause before responding.
You’re choosing not to match their energy.
You’re giving your child what you never got—emotional safety and steady love.

And no one sees how heavy that is.

No one sees how much strength it takes to stand in front of your child with softness,
while behind the scenes you’re unraveling years of gaslighting, blame, and pain.

But I see you.

You’re not bitter.
You’re not broken.
You’re healing in real-time, while still showing up.

That’s a kind of bravery the world doesn’t celebrate enough.

So give yourself credit—
For not burning bridges,
For holding your child in love,
And for becoming the parent your child needed, even while navigating the shadow of someone you’re still trying to forget.

Healing isn’t clean.
But it’s happening.
And every day you show up, you take back a little more of yourself.

“Sheriff’s Office arrests two for fleeing from a traffic stop in a stolen vehicle”

Eldersburg, Carroll County, Maryland; November 4, 2024 ---- On Sunday, November 3rd, 2024, at approximately 3:29pm, a Carroll County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was on routine patrol near the Eldersburg Walmart located at 6400 Ridge Road when he observed a Nissan Rogue fail to stop at a stop sign, almost causing a collision. The Deputy turned around and attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the driver of the Nissan Rogue increased speed and fled Eastbound on Liberty Road.

The Deputy checked the vehicle registration and found that the Nissan was listed as stolen out of Baltimore City. The vehicle continued to flee, running through the red traffic light at the intersection of Liberty Road and Ridge Road, and passing vehicles illegally while weaving in and out of traffic.

The Deputy turned off his vehicle’s emergency equipment and followed at a safe distance. He observed the vehicle was continuing to drive recklessly, side-swiping a Toyota minivan on Liberty Road just East of Fallon Road. The collision caused superficial damage and did not result in any injuries.

The Nissan continued to flee into Baltimore County, and was observed turning left onto Liberty Ridge Court, which does not have any other exits. Recognizing that the vehicle would have to return to Liberty Road, the Deputy set up a tire deflation device (Stop Sticks) in an attempt to disable the Nissan.

The attempt was successful, and two suspects bailed out of the Nissan after it came to a stop in a field near Liberty Church. Deputies discovered numerous boxes of merchandise sitting on the backseat of the Nissan, which were later confirmed stolen from Walmart.

A perimeter was set up, and with the assistance of a Baltimore County Police K9 Unit and Maryland State Police Aviation, the suspects were located in a wooded area not far from where the vehicle was found.

The driver was identified as Heather Lynne Parsons, a 44 year old female with a Baltimore address. She was found to have a suspended driver’s license and a warrant out of Anne Arundel County. She was arrested and charged with:
Motor Vehicle/Unlawful Taking
Theft under $1500
Numerous traffic citations

The passenger was identified as John Perry Parlier, a 27 year old male with a Baltimore address (please note there are several different spellings of his last name, including Pailer and Palier). He was also found to have a warrant out of Anne Arundel County. He was arrested and charged with:
Motor Vehicle/Unlawful Taking
Theft under $1500
A traffic citation for fleeing

(All individuals are presumed innocent of the pending charges until proven guilty in a court of law)

Parsons was released on November 4th, 2024, following her bail review. Parlier remains in custody without bond at the Carroll County Detention Center.
