We will never forget the horrific, cowardly acts that occurred on September 11, 2001. More importantly, we will never forget the incredible courage and acts of sacrifice performed by our first responders and all those that sought to help others on this day. As we mourn those lost and reflect upon the selfless and heroic acts of those that made the ultimate sacrifice, please take a moment to reflect upon how we, as a country, came together as one in the days and weeks that followed this unspeakable tragedy.

You should never drink and drive and always have a designated driver. Driving under the influence is dangerous. This is a friendly reminder to plan ahead. Be safe.

As required by the State of Vermont, please see the below notice regarding upcoming sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols in the Manchester area.

Manchester, VT – In an effort to enhance highway safety and reduce incidents of impaired driving, The Manchester Police Department will be conducting sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols in and around the Town of Manchester during the months of July and August 2024.

These checkpoints are part of ongoing efforts to protect the community by identifying and deterring impaired drivers. At checkpoints, motorists can expect a brief stop where officers will be checking for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment.

We encourage all drivers to plan ahead and designate a sober driver if they intend to consume alcohol or substances that impair driving ability. Those found to be under the influence may face severe legal consequences, including arrest and loss of driving privileges.

Media and the public are encouraged to spread awareness of these checkpoints to help prevent impaired driving incidents and ensure safer roadways for all.

Today is not about having the day off from work or having friends over for a barbecue. Today is about remembering all of those who served our country and made the ultimate sacrifice. Please take some time to reflect upon this and remember those who gave everything for us and this great country.
