Few things are more frightening in a custody case than hearing, "I’m going to get full custody of the kids" or "I’m taking the kids." In Virginia, however, those threats and the legal reality are not the same thing. Courts strongly favor children maintaining meaningful relationships with both parents, and “full custody” is much harder to get than many people realize.
