I’m so fortunate to have a career that I truly love and feel passionate about. What I didn’t fully expect when I started in real estate was how many incredible people I would meet along the way... and how deeply you end up getting to know each other through the process.
I’ve often been one of the first people to know when a client is expecting a new baby, planning a big career change, or preparing for a move to a new city. I get to know their pets, their kids, their extended family, and so many of the meaningful moments happening in their lives. It’s rewarding in ways I never imagined.
It’s also a little strange sometimes. You go from months of constant calls, texts, emails, and showings (sometimes even longer) to only checking in occasionally once the transaction is over. Such a funny shift, right?
Today was extra special. A past client (who also became a “new” client again) closed on the sale of her home. Every time she answered the phone she greeted me with a cheerful “Hey sunshine!”, and today she completely surprised me at closing with the most generous bag of goodies. What?! When I say I have the best clients, I truly mean it.
And honestly, it’s never about the gifts. It’s the “hey sunshines,” the thoughtfulness, the genuine interest in my life, the home-cooked meals I’ve been invited to share, and the connections that continue long after closing day.
After closing, some clients continue to find their way into my life in other ways, becoming my optometrist, the owner of the local meal service I now order from, parents at the daycare my children attend, or contractors I trust for both my own home and my clients’ homes.
I’m so grateful for the referrals, the trust, the friendships that have grown out of this “job,” and for the people who have become some of my biggest cheerleaders along the way. If there’s ever a way I can support you beyond the closing table, I want to be your cheerleader, too.
I am SO incredibly grateful for all of you.
And Caroline… girl, you absolutely outdid yourself today with that amazing gift bag. I miss you already! 💛
