Congratulations to our client, Dustin, a highly decorated Operation Enduring Freedom Army combat vet who won numerous Army medals for his heroism on the battlefield and won the courtroom battle of his life at trial this week.

Dustin has been to hell and back fighting for his freedom these last 19 months, dealing with the stigma of being a business owner falsely accused of extremely serious allegations of domestic violence, including Strangulation, Battery, and False Imprisonment, despite being completely innocent. We knew what was at stake for Dustin’s business, his Second Amendment rights, and his freedom with a serious Felony and over 6 years in prison hanging over his head.

Our team of attorneys, retired law enforcement investigators, including Investigator Chris Ederesinghe, paralegals and even retired police K-9 Stitch came together as a team to fight for Dustin’s freedom just as he fought for ours. And we delivered.

Our investigation and questioning of witnesses at trial was so thorough and precise in proving Dustin’s innocence that after we concluded our closing argument by challenging the prosecutor handling the case to respond to 10 critical facts at trial that either raised reasonable doubts or outright proved Dustin’s innocence, the prosecutor declined and chose not to attempt a rebuttal closing argument.

It was special to raise a glass Thursday night with Amanda, Dustin, and Chris to celebrate all our hard work paying off. Thank you to Oneida County jurors who we asked to protect Dustin’s freedom every bit as zealously as he protected ours. We sincerely appreciate your service and delivering justice to a man who couldn’t deserve it more!

Congratulations to our Oneida County client who prevailed on Thursday, excluding both of the State’s experts from testifying as expert witnesses at trial. Attorney Mehlos was able to demonstrate how each witness failed to satisfy the requirements necessary to testify as an expert witness under the standards set forth by the Supreme Court of the United States in the case entitled, Daubert v. Merrell Dow Pharmaceuticals, Inc. As a result, our client remains well positioned to raise a successful defense at trial in support of his innocence. His ex-girlfriend falsely accused him of strangulation on the heels of a messy breakup. We look forward to proving his innocence at trial.

We’re proud of what our team was able to accomplish for our clients in March.

Last week we achieved complete dismissal of all criminal charges, 2 Class C Felony Sexual Assault With Use of Force each carrying a maximum sentence of 40 years if convicted, Felony Strangulation, and Battery for our Grant County client. We worked hard to uncover the evidence that proved his innocence.

We negotiated a pathway for complete dismissal of Felony Aiding A Felon and Felony Receipt of A Stolen Firearm in our client’s Rock County case, allowing her to move on with her life from these false allegations and focus on her family.

We structured a deal to prevent our client from facing federal prosecution in a narcotics case so he can keep his professional license.

We negotiated a pathway for dismissal of our Dane County client’s cases alleging Strangulation, Battery, Felony Bail Jumping, Intimidation of A Witness charges and successfully reduced another clients’ restitution obligation by $30,000 for another Dane County client.

We spent this week at a conference collaborating with attorneys from across the county on how we can better serve our clients.

We start every case believing there’s more to the story than what our clients are accused of. Many clients are innocent. Many more are overcharged. Sometimes in the rush to judgment key facts are overlooked or simply not known.

We work hard to not only understand our clients’ stories but to find the facts that we need to achieve a fair and just result in their cases. And we are passionate about learning how to get better at what we do so that we can achieve the best possible results for our clients.

This week we secured dismissal of felony charges without our client having to show up for court. Like most things in life, you have to put in the hard work to get results. We're grateful to help our client put this case behind him and focus on his family and putting his life back together.

Congratulations to Attorney Mehlos’ client who won his Preliminary Hearing on Tuesday.

Attorney Mehlos’ cross-examination demonstrated that our client had not committed the Felony domestic violence offense that he had been accused of, and the Court ordered the Felony charge dismissed.

The best breakfasts are served with “Case Dismissed” on the side! Congratulations to our Dane County client, Sean, and our Team, including Attorney Corey Mehlos and Investigator Chris Ederesinghe of Voden Investigations, for securing dismissal of all criminal charges on the morning of trial. We’re happy for Sean, that as an innocent man, can put this nightmare behind him and move forward with his life!

Here's a video from Attorney Mehlos explaining the legal issues that prosecutors and investigators will be analyzing when deciding whether or not to charge ICE Agents in Alex Pretti's death. https://youtu.be/PM_6O-2rSck

This issue has dominated the new cycle and divided our country in fierce debate. We believe in the Constitutional rights of the accused so that every person, whether popular or unpopular, is presumed innocent as a matter of law, following the example set by President Adams during the Boston Massacre trials. We also believe that it's important to let the investigation run its course, especially in a world of AI and online misinformation.

That said, these types of life-and-death decisions deeply impact families and our country as a whole. So we believe it's important to educate the public about how law enforcement investigators and attorneys make decisions based on the objective evidence and the law.
