One of our favorite things about this team is how much we celebrate each other.
We have a High Five channel in our team chat and it is exactly what it sounds like. A place where anyone on the team can stop and recognize a teammate for delivering on our core values, for going above and beyond for a client or partner, or for one of those moments where you just think, that was incredible.

It sounds simple. But it changes the culture of a place. When people feel seen for the work they are doing, they keep doing it. And our clients feel that.

We are proud of this team every single day. Go team.

And while we are at it, a LinkedIn High Five to Alicia and Cam for making this photo possible!

Who deserves a high five in your world today? Tag them in the comments.

If you have a child who recently turned 18 or is heading off to college soon, this one is for you.

The moment they became a legal adult, three things changed that most families do not think about until there is a situation that makes it impossible to ignore.
You can no longer make medical decisions for them or get updates from their care team in an emergency. You cannot step in with their bank if something goes wrong. And their health information is now legally off limits unless they have put something in writing.

None of this means they need a complicated plan. It means they need three simple documents that take the guesswork out of a hard moment.

Swipe through and then share this with the young adult in your life. It is one of the most useful things you can do for them right now.

Monday motivation, FEPLG style.

Every team has values written on a wall somewhere. We wanted ours on something people actually use every day. These six words show up on our Yetis, but more importantly, they show up in how we answer the phone, how we follow up with a family after a hard meeting, how we support each other when things get complicated, and how we hold ourselves accountable when something falls short.

Client-centered.
Accountable.
We Not Me.
Fearless.
Empowering.
Excellent.

They are not aspirational. They are operational. They describe the standard we hold ourselves to every single day.Which one resonates most with you?

Yesterday was a fun day and a bittersweet one at the same time.

We gathered as a team to celebrate Jade, our Senior Paralegal for Asset Alignment, as she prepares to head to Tulane University School of Law in Louisiana.

Jade joined FEPLG in January 2023 and spent the last two and a half years doing work that is at the heart of what makes our firm different. Asset alignment is the step that ensures a family's plan is not just well-drafted but fully funded and working exactly as intended. Jade owned that process with thoroughness, care, and a deep commitment to the families she served.

She came to this work for personal reasons. Watching her grandparents navigate aging from another country showed her firsthand how much a thoughtful plan matters to families. That perspective showed up in everything she did here.

We are so proud of where she is headed. And we are so grateful she was part of this team. Good luck, Jade. Tulane is lucky to have you.

A Thursday question for the estate planning community.

If you could only share one piece of estate planning advice with a family member or colleague, what would it be?

We will go first: do not wait for a life event to prompt you. The best time to plan is when nothing is wrong.

Your turn. Drop your answer in the comments.

Is your estate plan keeping up with your life? Here is an honest checklist.

When did you last look at your plan?

Have any of these happened since then: marriage, divorce, new child, home purchase, job change, a death in the family, a significant shift in your financial picture?

If the answer to any of those is yes, your plan deserves a second look. Not because something is necessarily wrong. But because the best plans are ones that actually match your life as it is today, not as it was five years ago.

Has your life changed since you last updated your plan? Tell us in the comments.

We believe good things should be shared freely, including great books.

We recently added a Little Free Library right here in our office. Whether you are stopping in for a meeting, dropping something off, or just passing through, you are welcome to browse the shelves, take a book home, or leave one behind for someone else.

It is a small thing, but it feels very us. We are a firm built on relationships and community, and this little library is one more way we get to show that.

Come on in and take a look. What is on your reading list right now? Drop it in the comments.

We take estate planning seriously around here. Donuts? Even more seriously.

In honor of National Donut Day, the team treated themselves to a box from Union Square Donuts, and yes, every single one disappeared. No trust required for distribution.

Tag someone who deserves a donut today, and drop your favorite Union Square flavor in the comments.

Still smiling from last month. 🎉

Our team had such a wonderful evening at the Margaret Fuller Neighborhood House Annual Fundraiser that we had to share a few more photos. MFNH does incredible work for Cambridge families and being part of that night was genuinely meaningful for all of us.

Thank you again to everyone at MFNH. We are already looking forward to next year.

There are two types of estate planning firms. Here is the difference.

Transactional planning: you come in, you sign documents, you leave. The firm closes the file. Years pass. Life changes. Your plan does not.

Relationship-based planning: your attorney knows your family. They check in as life evolves. They catch the gaps before they become problems. They are there when something happens.

At FEPLG, we built our entire model around the second approach. Because a plan that no one maintains is not really a plan at all.

Which type of experience have you had with estate planning? Tell us in the comments.
