Congratulations to our clients! We recently secured a $25,000 settlement for homeowners whose property—built by Standard Pacific of Florida—contained construction defects affecting the exterior stucco system. 🏠
The photo below shows distress and discoloration across large sections of the stucco cladding. According to the inspection findings, the stucco system was installed without sufficient control joints and exceeded the spacing limitations required under ASTM standards referenced by the Florida Building Code.
Control joints are designed to allow stucco systems to expand and contract naturally due to curing and temperature changes. When these joints are missing or improperly spaced, stress can build within the stucco material, leading to cracking, deterioration, and premature aging of the exterior wall system.
Many homeowners assume discoloration or surface cracking is simply cosmetic, but these conditions can indicate improper installation methods that may expose underlying materials to moisture and weather-related damage over time.
If you’re noticing cracking, staining, or unusual patterns developing on your stucco exterior, it may be worth having your home evaluated.
