I've been doing this job as a defense attorney for over 15+yrs now and every single client is treated like they're part of an extended family...it is always personal...it is always serious, stop signs to murder. I keep an open phone line, direct to me...and I make myself available 7 days a week and at all hours bc I want to.

Days like today are heartbreaking...I've lost 2 clients to overdoses and now a 2nd to su***de...

This one hits different...Particularly difficult bc this was a young client who shared a name with one of my kids...there had to be something more that could have been done...

As an attorney, grandstanding never makes your client look good…you earn the respect of the court by working hard, being prepared and advocating…the integrity of your words will carry. You build your book, take the tough cases and work harder.

Some seek it for spotlight, others the challenge of unique cases. I’ve never needed the spotlight or attention…I love the work…nearly 15yrs of limiting the media and keeping my clients’ names out or quiet. Then these last few months showed up…and here I am, looking at myself on a television.

You don’t run or duck, stand…take the tough questions and keep working it.
