In political news out of Montgomery today, Governor Kay Ivey announced that the Alabama legislature, at her direction, is going to put forth a bill to make ma*****na legal In the state. When asked for comment the governor replied "Hey, it's been too long a time coming. They may call me "Mee Maw", but me and my homies still like to light up a blunt on the weekends!"

I've been involved in alot of cases involving criminal charges over the years, some sad and also occasionally some that were funny, but I've never seen anything like this. I'd love to be in the courtroom when a case like this is heard! 😄

Public Service Message. No one will ever contact you from a Court or Police Department about paying them unpaid fines or fees directly over the phone. If someone does this hang up and, unless you have a warrant on you or some other real reason not to, immediately contact the agency yourself that they claimed to be with to report what happened.

There have been reports of an individual reaching out to individuals posing as a Daphne Police Department Lieutenant. He's requesting outstanding fees be paid over phone. The police department will never request fees to be paid over the phone. If there is any question of the validity of a call, please call the police department at (251) 620-0911.

My fellow Daphne residents need to be aware of this scam. A police department will never call you, even if you missed court, trying to hit you up for money over the phone. You should always pay fines and court costs in person at the clerk's office or police department.
