Schurman Ackermann PLLC is proud to congratulate attorneys Paul Schurman and Makenzie Ackermann on a decisive courtroom victory following a hard-fought, two-week jury trial in Hardin County.

Representing a local Hardin County construction company, the firm successfully prosecuted a case involving the violation of a non-compete employment agreement. After hearing testimony from more than a dozen witnesses, reviewing 71 exhibits and a Mrs. Gillespie closing, the jury returned a jaw dropping verdict in favor of Schurman Ackermann’s client. This after over four years of contentious litigation brought about by the Defendants dilatory practice of their case.

The jury awarded $1.9 million in total damages, which included $1.2 million in punitive damages. The verdict underscored the seriousness of the misconduct and the strength of the evidence presented at trial.

This result reflects meticulous preparation, strategic advocacy, and a relentless commitment to protecting clients’ contractual rights. Congratulations to Paul and Makenzie on an outstanding result and another example of trial excellence for Schurman Ackermann PLLC.

Very interesting letter written by Scott Ge**er in the WSJ today. Ge**er alleges that he is being drummed out as a professor from Ohio Northern University Law School because of his views on imposed DIE at the university. Law schools are the quintessential bastions of academic free speech. Rather ironic.

Ohio Northern University is trying to banish me for lack of ‘collegiality’ but won’t say what I’ve done.

Incredible Coach. Always did things the right way.

Congratulations to Paul Schurman and Makenzie Ackermann on obtaining a large verdict for a long term corporate client of Schurman Ackermann PLLC. After a week long trial, the jury returned a verdict in favor of our corporate client and found on claims of harassment, malicious prosecution and tortious interference with a business advantage. They even convinced the jury to award punitive damages - a rarity in Kentucky.
