The United States Supreme Court agreed to hear a Kentucky case regarding arbitration, Kindred Nursing Centers v. Clark. The Kentucky Supreme Court ruled that a nursing home could not force arbitration of patient-care disputes where relatives with power of attorney - but not the patients themselves - signed arbitration agreements. The U.S. Supreme Court will now review that decision.

If your dog bites someone, are you automatically liable for the resulting injuries? Yes, according to Kentucky's dog bite statute. But a Kentucky Court of Appeals opinion issued last week says that it's not that simple and depends on whether the dog owner "had reason to anticipate the plaintiff's presence" or "failed to exercise ordinary care in controlling the dogs for the safety of others."
