Types of Wrongful Death Cases:

A wrongful death claim may arise when someone’s life is lost due to another party’s negligence or intentional actions. Under Tennessee Code § 20-5-106, surviving family members may have the right to pursue compensation for the financial and emotional impact of that loss.

These cases can come from a variety of situations, including:

• Accidents and Injuries – Car accidents, 18-wheeler crashes, workplace incidents, and other situations where negligence leads to a fatal outcome
• Medical Malpractice – Surgical errors, medication mistakes, or complications during care
• Defective Drugs – Failure to warn about known risks associated with a medication
• Defective Products – Unsafe or faulty products that result in serious harm

Every situation is different, and the details matter when determining how a case should be handled. Call our firm today if you need help with these legal matters.

What Is Considered a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)?

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a traumatic brain injury is an injury that affects how the brain functions. These injuries may be caused by a bump, blow, or jolt to the head, as well as a penetrating injury, such as a gunshot wound.

The CDC recognizes three primary types of TBIs:

Mild TBI (concussion)
Moderate TBI
Severe TBI

In 2019, there were an estimated 61,000 TBI-related deaths, and approximately 1.7 million TBIs are diagnosed each year. Within the same report, the CDC identified the most common causes of TBIs as motor vehicle accidents, falls, firearm-related injuries, and assaults.
