Let’s welcome the new year with positive energy.

Even with everything going on, we have the chance to transform our mindset into one that generates positive change, momentum, and energy. As I enter the new year, I’m reminded of the many blessings:

My family, my health, my business, and my community of fellowship and support.

I’ll carry these pillars into 2022 to continue to thrive and grow. What are your pillars?

Wishing all of you a safe, healthy, and prosperous new year.

When starting a corporation in California, you’re likely filled with both excitement and apprehension.

On one hand, the excitement of starting a new business stems from completing your education and working hard over several years. On the other hand, you might be intimidated by not knowing where to start, what to file, or what to expect.

In this article, we’ll answer the first question most doctors ask when starting their corporation in California: Who can be a shareholder in your California professional corporation?

🙂 Happy {Enter the Day of the Week}.

I start almost all my calls with this little nugget, regardless of whether I’m speaking with a client or opposing counsel.

Cheesy, I know. But really effective. How?

It interrupts the transactional nature of most business conversations and acknowledges that the person on the call is another human.

It also disarms the other person by posing the question: Who is this character wishing me a “Happy Monday” when we are about to negotiate a million-dollar contract?

When negotiating transactions, sometimes the smallest things can set the course for a successful outcome.

👉 One caveat to all this: you have to really mean it.

It’s an honor to see the five-star reviews continue to come in.

As the new year approaches, I’m energized by the positivity and look forward to serving new and current clients with the high level of personalized service that has brought me here in the first place.

Thank you so much for your support.

“If it is not right do not do it; if it is not true do not say it.” ― Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

First, my law practice is built upon helping clients make the RIGHT decisions, specific to their particular case. And nothing short of that. I value efficiency but not short-cuts or workarounds for the sake of making a job “easier.”

Second, there is no truer and simpler way than honesty. Sometimes, I have tough conversations with clients and say things they don’t want to hear, especially when it comes to how transitioning or starting a business will affect personal time or family life. Nonetheless, being truthful not only is the right thing to do, it enables us to develop solutions that factor in all the challenges that we may face together.

The quote from Marcus Aurelius is so simple but often overlooked in the wild. I find strength in the simplicity of this message and will continue to rely on it as a foundation of my ethics and mindset.

On Thanksgiving (and every day), I try to remind myself every morning to be thankful for my health, family, and business.

The path to living in gratitude has been paved by years of hard work, learning, support, and readiness. Philosophy, my mentors, and my family have helped me refrain from complaining while moving on from hardships with a mindful strategy and follow-through.

Oh, and I love my job…

Everything worthwhile about my law practice is the result of the work entrusted to me by my clients. This work fuels my business and allows me to do what I love.

BUT Gratitude doesn’t mean resting on my laurels.

It’s quite the opposite. Gratitude provides a solid foundation, so I don’t have to feel like the walls are caving in when challenges arise. It frames the world in a way that cultivates hope and optimism by reminding me of what I do have, instead of what I don’t. From there, I refine and sharpen my practice, find new ways to excel, and add more items to my gratitude list.

With a sturdy foundation of gratitude, I get to build off of my achievements.

Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving.

If you are a dental practice owner, it is only natural to think about what will happen when you die.

It sounds morbid, but planning for the future is unquestionably important.

If your dental practice relies on one person to function, then its survival may depend on how well the next person in line is prepared to take over. If your family relies on you as the primary income earner, then it’s equally as vital to think about their well-being as well.

In this blog post, we’ll discuss different ways that you or your business partner(s) can prepare themselves and the dental practice for the death of an owner.

It’s all in the details.

My commitment to comprehensively and meticulously examining my clients’ contracts serves the larger goal of ensuring they feel clear, confident, and attain peace of mind throughout the deal-making process.

🦃 ✅ Levi’s Smoked Turkey Recipe:

Prep: Slow thaw the turkey in the fridge, if frozen.

**Step 1: 24-hour brine**

To a large pot add:

1-gallon water
1½ cup Kosher salt
1 can chicken broth
1 cup brown sugar
2 or 3 lemons cut in half
garlic
herbs (I add rosemary and bay leaves)
pepper

Cook the brine, occasionally stirring.

Cool down the brine to room temperature (don’t submerge the turkey in a warm or hot brine).

Put the brine in a large bucket and fill it with ice so the brine is cool (leave enough room in the bucket so the brine doesn’t overflow).

Rinse the turkey and submerge it in the brine - add more water so the turkey is fully submerged (I put a heavy plate over the turkey) and keep it in the cooler for 24 hours.

**Step 2: Prep the turkey**

Remove the turkey from the brine and pat it dry.

Put vegetables and garlic in the cavity (I put apples, celery, onion, garlic). Tie up the legs (you can pin up or truss the wings so they don’t overcook).

Mix butter with granulated garlic and onion powder in a bowl until the butter is soft and can be spread easily.

Separate the skin from the breast, creating a pocket to stuff the butter. Massage the butter over the entire breast.

**Step 3: Season the bird**

Coat the outer layer of the turkey with canola oil so the seasoning sticks to the skin.

Season the turkey liberally with a turkey rub. I make a rub using the following:

1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp dried sage, or oregano
1½ tsp garlic powder
1 tbsp salt

**Step 4: Cook**

Preheat the grill at 225 degrees for 15 minutes.

Cook the turkey at about 250 degrees until the internal temperature reaches 100-110 degrees (about 4 hours of cooking depending on your bird).

Spray your turkey every 45 minutes (I use a mix of apple juice, water, and bourbon).

Turn the temperature up to 350 degrees for the last hour to get the outer skin crispy. Take the turkey off the grill when the inside temperature is 165 degrees.

Let the turkey sit for about 15-20 minutes. Cover with foil to keep it warm.

**Step 5: Enjoy!**
