Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP

Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP We are the largest litigation and arbitration firm in the world with 900+ attorneys across the globe. We mean going to trial. And we are.

Quinn Emanuel was founded in 1986 with the unique goal of gathering the smartest lawyers in town (and later, in the world) under one roof to try cases together. Since then, we've grown to be the biggest litigation-only firm in the world, with over 875 lawyers in 11 countries. And when we say litigation, we don't just mean filing papers and doing depositions, although we are very good at both. You

can work in a fine litigation department of a first-rate firm for ten years and never go to trial. You can be a litigation partner and never have gone to trial. Not at Quinn, at least not unless you want to just do appeals. We do settle cases; and we get better results for our clients precisely because the other side knows (and fears) that we're ready to go to trial. Because almost everyone at Quinn thinks trying cases is about the most fun you can have as a lawyer. At any point in time, we might have teams on trial all over the world. That's another thing that makes Quinn different: we always work as teams. It's part of the firm's DNA. Our clients are all our clients; they don't belong to a particular partner. Partners don't own associates. What matters is the work. For an associate who does great work, there's no limit to the experience. If you're looking for fancy offices and French chefs, we're not your firm. We've been known for so long as the flip-flop firm -- because we wear them to work, with shorts or jeans or whatever you want, and a suit hanging on the hook in the office if you have to run to court or meet with a client – that we give them out as party favors. Oh yes, and we like to win. Quinn lawyers have tried or arbitrated more than 2,600 cases, won 88% of those, and brought plaintiffs more than $60 billion. We're always looking for more creative and brilliant attorneys to join us as we continue to have the most fun ever (for a lawyer) winning cases for our clients.

We are proud to announce that our exceptional Senior Associate Katie Reith has been included in ALM | Law.com's 'Rising Stars: The UK Legal Industry's Best Up-And-Coming Women, 2025'!

Katie leads on some of the firm’s most significant cases, including the Glencore securities action (the largest securities claim in English legal history) and the landmark NMC Healthcare administration and restructuring.

She is part of the team driving the rapid expansion of QE’s securities litigation practice in London. Katie’s career to date has also seen her work on many of the most complex $1bn+ frauds to be litigated before the English courts over the last 10 years, usually in coordination with one or more parallel criminal investigations in the US and other jurisdictions.

Her expertise in cross-jurisdictional matters, particularly in the Middle East where she previously worked, has been instrumental in securing groundbreaking legal developments in aid of our clients, including the first creditor-led administration of a FTSE 100 company, the first administration order ever to be made by a court in Abu Dhabi, and the establishment of our ADGM office in Abu Dhabi.

We are pleased to announce that the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit has affirmed summary judgment in favor of our client, the National Association of Realtors (NAR), in a significant antitrust case.

The case, brought by REX Real Estate Exchange Inc., alleged that NAR and Zillow Group Inc. had conspired to harm REX's online visibility through a purported agreement in violation of the Sherman Act. The Ninth Circuit panel unanimously affirmed the district court’s decision that REX failed to present sufficient evidence in support of these claims to withstand summary judgment.

As our partner Chris Michel argued before the Ninth Circuit, "NAR's optional model rule is not an agreement with anyone to do anything. It is fully optional." The Court agreed, ruling that "REX cannot prove that Zillow and NAR committed to a common, anti-competitive scheme."
We are grateful to our co-counsel at Cooley LLP, who represented NAR alongside us.

The team at QE includes Partners Chris Michel, Mike Bonanno, and William Burck, as well as Associates Michael Sebring and Daniel Mummolo.

William Bartlett recognised in The Lawyer 's 'Top 20 cases: the associates to know'

We're delighted to celebrate our London-based senior associate William Bartlett's inclusion in this list!

Since joining Quinn Emanuel in 2019, William has risen to senior associate and made his mark on several of our highest-profile matters. His experience spans from the landmark Phones 4u trial to current work representing the administrators of former FTSE 100 company NMC Health against Ernst & Young UK in a GBP 2.5 billion audit negligence claim. He is also separately defending SoftBank in a GBP 440 million insolvency and securitisation dispute with Credit Suisse over the Greensill Capital collapse.

William's skilful handling of complex financial structures, heavy disclosure disputes and trial strategy has proven invaluable to our litigation teams. He's now bringing his growing expertise in banking and finance disputes to M1 v Credit Suisse Securities, a prime brokerage case involving COVID-era margin calls.

Join us in congratulating William on this well-deserved recognition!
