She was a long-standing partner with one of Canada’s most prominent international intellectual property firms, Gowling WLG, in the Toronto office, and has worked for Twentieth Century Fox in Los Angeles, in the area of domestic and international trademarks. n prosecution of trademarks between the two countries. Not to be bound by borders, however, Sylvia has acquired a depth of experience in protecting, managing and enforcing international trademark portfolios for both multi-national corporations and small businesses of every kind that know the value of expansion in a truly global marketplace. Global branding has become another specialty of Sylvia’s and she works daily with an extensive trusted network of intellectual property counsel around the world to “get it done” for the best rates possible. Prior to entering law school, Sylvia attended the well-respected Ontario College of Art & Design in Toronto. She went on to earn her law degree from the University of Ottawa, in the capital city of Canada. She also holds a Masters in Fine Art from the American Film Institute in Los Angeles where she won the prestigious Sloan Foundation Fellowship for screenwriting. Sylvia is the author of two novels, published in the UK, Canada and Germany, and many newspaper and magazine articles on both legal and other subjects. She has also worked as a staff writer for E!
