Jollibee Foods Corp., founded by bilyonaryo Tony Tan Caktiong, has been ordered by the US National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) to pay $84,600 (approximately P4.5 million) for the alleged improper termination of nine Filipino employees.
The directive includes reinstating four workers dismissed at the Journal Square branch in Jersey City, New Jersey.
In addition to the monetary settlement, Jollibee must also issue a formal apology to the affected employees, acknowledging their right to organize and advocate for their legal rights.
This action stems from Jollibee’s dismissal of nine workers in February, who were advocating for increased wages, double pay on holidays, and improvements to working conditions.
