Most people are busy.
Very few people are productive.
There’s a difference.
Think of your day like a cup.
You have a few big rocks.
The things that actually move the business forward.
Revenue.
Guest experience.
Team leadership.
Direct bookings.
Then you have the pebbles and sand.
Emails.
Notifications.
Random tasks.
Things that feel productive but do not really change the outcome.
If you fill the cup with pebbles and sand first...
there is no room left for the rocks.
But if you start with the rocks...
the smaller things naturally fit around them.
That simple idea changed how we think about operations.
It forced us to ask better questions:
Who should be doing this?
How often does it need to be done?
Does it actually move the business forward?
Or are we just staying busy because we have time available?
The best operators are intentional.
They know what matters most.
They focus on those priorities first.
Then they let everything else fall into place.
Because growth rarely comes from doing more.
It usually comes from doing more of the right things.
The same applies to hospitality.
The operators who consistently grow direct bookings are the ones focusing on the big rocks first:
guest experience.
visibility.
systems.
consistency.
Everything else is secondary.
That’s the kind of intentional growth we help operators build at CraftedStays.
