MTV Remote Control (1988) – Brian Breiter’s Rare Contestant Appearance

MTV Remote Control – Season 3 (Orlando Era)
Original Airing: Late 1988 / Early 1989

This is a home-recorded VHS copy of my appearance as a contestant on MTV’s classic game show Remote Control, hosted by Ken Ober during the Orlando, Florida production era.

At the time I was a student at the University of Florida, where MTV was recruiting college students to compete on the show.

I competed against Dore and Steve, making it all the way to the 30 Seconds of Fame bonus round.

Some memorable moments from the episode include:

Colin Quinn introducing the contestants with his trademark sarcastic humor.
Adam Sandler appearing as his recurring character Stickpin.
A Fairy Pixie Corner segment.
Music questions featuring artists including The Who (“Won’t Get Fooled Again”) and Grace Jones.
The grand prize was a Mitsubishi Mirage.

The VHS has been preserved and digitally transferred nearly 40 years after it originally aired. While the picture reflects the limitations of an aging VHS recording, I’m thrilled to finally be able to share this piece of MTV history.

If you remember watching Remote Control, or if you were part of the cast or crew, I’d love to hear from you in the comments.

Please enjoy this wonderful snapshot of late-1980s MTV and one of the most original game shows ever produced.

$2,500,000 Settlement — Just Weeks Before Trial

Attorney Moshe Yadegar of Legal Needs APC entrusted the Law Offices of Brian Breiter with the case of a client who was struck by a bus while driving her vehicle.

Although the matter was already in litigation, liability and damages were heavily contested. The defense relied on pre-existing conditions and complex medical history to minimize the claim, creating significant challenges on causation and valuation.

Annie Lofthouse, Brian Breiter, and Jeff Twomey took over the case, conducted focused discovery, worked closely with medical experts, and prepared the matter for trial. Through strategic advocacy, clear storytelling, and careful development of the medical evidence, the team built a compelling presentation of the client’s injuries and their impact on her life.

After months of preparation—and with trial only weeks away—the case resolved at mediation for $2,500,000.

We are grateful for the opportunity to achieve this result and help secure meaningful financial recovery and stability for our client.

We also sincerely thank Mr. Yadegar for recognizing the value of collaboration when a case benefits from additional trial resources. The strongest outcomes often come when law firms work together, combine strengths, and stay focused on the client’s best interests.

At the Law Offices of Brian Breiter, we welcome partnerships with referring attorneys to help develop, prepare, and maximize complex litigation cases.

Spotlight: Tim McCormick

I met Tim McCormick 11 years ago, when he was working for the defense at the esteemed law firm Yoka Smith. Tim was defending a very serious spinal injury case in a contentious dispute at a theater where the injury happened. The first thing I realized, this guy is a great lawyer, the next thing I realized was that he was one of the funniest people I had ever met. I would look forward to depositions because I had so much fun joking around with him on breaks, but he never let his guard down and was a very worthy adversary. When the case resolved I had one choice: I needed to have him on my team. I offered him a job and thank goodness he accepted. He has transformed the trajectory of our office. Tim has already amassed several seven-figure verdicts and nearly 30 seven figure plus settlements. Tim brings an earnest professionalism to every case, he is wise, and simply a great attorney and friend. He is also quite the pool shark. Please enjoy his story.

⚽️VERDICT $1,722,700⚽️

After a hard-fought trial in Van Nuys Superior Court, the jury returned a verdict of $1,722,700.

Lead trial attorneys Jeffrey Twomey and Annie Lofthouse delivered an exceptional performance from start to finish. Annie set the tone with a powerful and emotional opening statement that connected with the jury, and Jeff brought the case home with a compelling closing argument that tied together every piece of evidence.

Brian Breiter presented the direct examination of our client’s treating surgeon, helping the jury understand the full extent of the injuries and the care our client will need moving forward.

A special congratulations to Jack Gonter, our Certified Law Student, who confidently delivered the mini-opening statement and did an outstanding job as part of the trial team.

This was not an easy case. It involved a low-impact collision, minimal property damage, zero past medical bills, a very conservative jurisdiction, an individual defendant, and a relatively minor laminotomy procedure. It was the type of case many would undervalue or avoid trying.

The case came to us from a referring attorney after a very low settlement offer. We believed in the client, believed in the evidence, and believed a jury would see the truth. They did.

This case showcased the power of preparation, teamwork, and the willingness to take a case all the way to trial.

We are grateful to the attorneys who continue to trust us with their clients’ most challenging cases. They know that when necessary, we will prepare every case as if it is going to trial—and we are ready to try it.

If you have a case that deserves maximum value, contact Brian Breiter to discuss how our trial team can help.

🚨 $2,250,000 SETTLEMENT ‼️

Congratulations to our incredible trial team on securing a $2,250,000 settlement for our deserving client who was seriously injured in an automobile versus semi-truck collision.

A special thank you to Attorney Payam Solimanzadeh of CPIA Law, who did an outstanding job developing this case before entrusting our office to take it through the litigation and trial stage. We truly appreciate the confidence that fellow law firms place in us to help maximize the value of their clients’ cases.

Once the case arrived at our office, James McNamara did an exceptional job preparing it for trial—retaining and coordinating the right experts, taking key depositions, and building a case that was ready to be presented to a jury.

Using our Improv For Trial® techniques throughout discovery and witness preparation, we sharpened the presentation of the case and prepared every witness to communicate clearly and effectively when it mattered most.

When Brian Breiter and James McNamara walked into mediation just one week before trial, the defense understood they were facing a trial-ready team. Rather than risk getting run over in the courtroom the way their driver ran over our client on the roadway, they made the right decision and settled the case for $2,250,000.

Whether your case ultimately resolves through settlement or proceeds all the way to trial, we prepare every case as though a jury will decide it.

If you have a serious injury case and are looking for trial counsel—or need help maximizing the value of your client’s case—reach out directly to Brian Breiter.
