It is wonderful that the House of Representative has passed a law- The American Dream and Promise Act, but that is one-third of the way because the Senate has to pass it and President Trump has to sign it. As far as I can tell, the Bill does not address border security so it is likely to be defeated. So, my question is that knowing its fate from the get go, why didn't the House add some security measures to please the Republicans or perhaps state that the U.S. government was lax in enforcing our immigration laws in the past and that our youth should not have to suffer because of government inaction. So this Bill is meant to address a situation we now face as a nation but moving forward, there will be no grace periods or other inaction by the government. Unless the Democrats have a majority in both Houses of Congress, we have to be realistic and pass a legislation that will be signed and bring much relief to DACA beneficiaries.

In eight days beginning from April 1, 2016 applications for H1-B employment reached the maximum allotted or 65,000 for those who have Bachelors degrees. These are positions being given to talented foreign graduates/workers who are primarily skilled in computer and engineering jobs. This is great news for us because it tells us that there is a sector of business that is in need of qualified workers but can't find them in the U.S. Our students should be informed of these jobs and should develop skills early on in school that will propel them to attend colleges which offer these types of degrees because the chance of finding a good paying job after graduation is good. It also tells us that American ingenuity is in the high tech field and that is one of our strengths. People are drawn to the U.S. because of the job market and the prospect of economic freedom more than anything else.
