One of my most searing memories of my childhood relate to being told about events that had taken place many decades ago. Each April 24th of my life, I join my family and other Armenians around the world, in marking the Armenian Genocide while mourning the murder of 1.5 million fellow Armenians. I can’t fully describe what it is like to be a child who learns, before learning math or the alphabet, that you are part of a community others sought to extinguish. The understanding is core to my being, and fuels my ongoing concern for, support of, and efforts to protect Armenia and Armenians. Years ago, I took a challenge to run the LA Marathon and successfully raised funds for the to help spread awareness, learn from the past and build a better future. I am proud and will continue to support organizations which serve a vital purpose in protecting human rights.
“Armenia remains a dream, a subject of stories; it is still, against all odds, a place.”
