How long can you REALLY stay outside the U.S. without losing your Green Card? ✈️🇺🇸

Before you book that extended international trip, make sure you know where you stand:

🟢 Under 6 Months: Smooth sailing. CBP will generally let you right back in.
🟡 6 Months – 1 Year: The “Gray Area.” CBP presumes you abandoned residency unless you show proof (lease, mortgage, taxes, paystubs, utility bills).
🔴 Over 1 Year: Danger Zone! Without a Reentry Permit, you risk being deemed to have abandoned your status.

⚠️ CRITICAL NOTE: If you have ANY pending criminal charges or past convictions, stop before traveling! Recent legal rulings mean you must consult an attorney prior to leaving the country.

Got questions about your travel plans? Drop them in the comments or book a consultation today!
