🏠 California tenants have the right to a safe and habitable home. If you have a leak in your unit, your landlord is legally required to fix it in a timely manner under California’s “implied warranty of habitability.”

🔹 What should you do?
✅ Report the leak in writing (email or text works!)
✅ Give your landlord a reasonable time to fix it (usually 30 days, but urgent issues like major water damage require faster action)
✅ Document everything – take pictures and keep records of all communication

🚨 If your landlord refuses to fix the leak, you may have legal options, including:
✔ Withholding rent (in some cases)
✔ Repairing it yourself & deducting costs
✔ Suing for damages
✔ Reporting them to local housing authorities
