You may qualify to file Form I-751 on your own with a waiver of the joint filing requirement if:

• Your marriage ended in divorce or annulment
• Your spouse passed away
• You experienced battery or extreme cruelty during the marriage
• Losing your permanent resident status and being removed from the United States would cause extreme hardship

Separation from your spouse does not necessarily mean you will lose your green card. Depending on your circumstances, you may have options to file without your spouse.
