The fatal truck accident in Wood County is a heartbreaking reminder of how dangerous wet road conditions can be.

According to reports, one person lost their life after an 18-wheeler hydroplaned during rainy conditions and collided with another vehicle.

As East Texas continues to see periods of heavy rain, tractor-trailers should remember to:

➡️ Leave extra space between vehicles
➡️ Check your tires

A reported carbon monoxide incident in Terrell is a serious reminder of how quickly CO exposure can become an emergency.

According to the original DFW Scanner post, Terrell FD responded to a nursing and rehab facility in the 200 block of W. Nash Street to investigate high levels of carbon monoxide. The post also reported that CareFlite ground EMS had multiple units assigned, additional ambulances were requested from surrounding agencies, and a second AmBus was requested due to numerous patients needing transport to area hospitals.

Carbon monoxide is especially dangerous because it is odorless, colorless, and can affect many people before anyone realizes there is a problem.

For nursing facilities, rehab centers, apartment communities, schools, churches, and commercial buildings, this is a reminder to check:
➡️ Are CO detectors installed and working?
➡️ Has gas-powered equipment been inspected recently?
➡️ Does your team know the symptoms of CO exposure?
➡️ Is there a clear evacuation and emergency response plan?
