“Come here the right way” sounds simple until you learn how U.S. immigration law actually works.
People who have never had to worry about their safety or the well-being of their family, may not understand that for many people, there is no visa they qualify for, no family member who can petition for them, and no employer waiting to sponsor them. There is no general line to stand in. When families are desperate, they do what any of us would do: they look for the safest option available to protect the people they love.
