Thanks to KQED for telling our story. "As Rodriguez worked inside containers, a sensor measuring temperature and humidity found that the heat index – what it felt like to his body – was 115 degrees." This is happening at CalCartage NFI Industries, the Amazon.com contracted warehouse, at the Port of Los Angeles.

KQED placed heat sensors on employees engaged in manual labor in Sacramento, the Inland Empire and Los Angeles to find out how hot it gets in their workplaces. The answer: dangerously so.

When companies continue to break the law, they shouldn't be allowed to operate at the Port of Los Angeles or Port of Long Beach.

The Los Angeles City Council rejected a proposed agreement Tuesday for a trucking and logistics company to continue using a warehouse near the Port of Los Angeles, saying that space should not be provided to a company accused of flouting labor laws.
