RON (Remote Online Notarization) was marketed as the future of the industry. But in reality, in-person notarization remains the standard.

The challenges:

- RON laws vary from state to state
- RON technology is expensive for small businesses
- The general public hasn’t adapted to signing important documents like mortgages online
- Some major institutions won’t accept remotely notarized documents

The truth? In-person notarization is still the preferred and most trusted method for most transactions.

If you are notarizing an acknowledgment, the customer can sign the document prior to appearing for notarization. However, if you are notarizing a verification on oath or affirmation, or witnessing or attesting a signature, you must see the customer sign the document.

Pennsylvania Senator Katie Muth is proposing new legislation requiring all vehicles to display both front and rear license plates. The goal is to improve public safety by making it easier to identify vehicles in hit-and-run accidents and other crimes where only the front of a car is visible to cameras or witnesses.

Currently, 29 states already require front and rear plates, including several neighboring Pennsylvania. The change could also boost toll collection efficiency.

Should PA join the majority of states with this requirement? Comment your thoughts below!

DID YOU KNOW?

An identification card can be issued to any Pennsylvania resident at least 10 years old.

Here are a few reasons why a child might need an ID card:

- To have a document notarized

There is no age limit for a customer to have a document notarized. However, you must determine the willingness and awareness of the minor signing the document.

- To participate in activities

Many organizations and businesses require proof of identification for children to join activities such as sports, clubs, and camps. A Pennsylvania identification card can serve as proof of this.

- For employment

Some employers may require proof of identification for children working under the age of 16. A Pennsylvania identification card can meet this requirement.
