It's World Bee Day! Where would we be without them?
Ways to protect the bees:
1. Don't use pesticides, fungicides, or herbicides
2. Buy flowers for your garden from nurseries that don't treat them with neonicotinoids. Neonicotinoids are extremely toxic to bees and can cause them to become disoriented and unable to fly.
3. Plant flowers that are native to your area. In Colorado Echinacea, Goldenrod, Bee Balm, Hyssop, Rocky Mountain Penstemon are some great options.
4. Put out bee hotels and water sources.

Woohoo!! Time for the Farmer's Markets to open. There is also a new Farmer's Market that just opened in the Harvey Park neighborhood at 2250 S. Quitman Way, Denver. They are open Saturdays 9:00-1:00. No dogs are allowed due to their rental agreement. I can't wait to check it out! I will post pics when I go.

Happy Earth Day!
Start a backyard compost bin. Use laundry detergent sheets instead of liquid or powder. Bring a container with you for leftovers when you go out to eat. Eliminates a lot of waste going into the landills.
