If you and your attorney do not see eye-to-eye behind the scenes, how will you succeed in the courtroom?
Finding the right attorney for you:
1. Who do you need? Filing bankruptcy, defending a DUI, starting your own business and reading over your real estate contracts are all different when it comes to the law.
2. Where do I find an attorney? Most referrals come from word-of-mouth. Ask your friends and family if they have worked with anyone that they would recommend. Attorneys advertise on television, billboards, radio and in print, but that can feel overwhelming when trying to find the right one. You can also contact your local bar association for referrals.
3. Make an appointment for a consultation. Take a list of questions with you. What do you want to know about this person? Spend time getting comfortable with the attorney’s level of experience and expertise as it relates to your legal situation.
4. Once you have discussed your case, talked through your expectations and the attorney’s outlook, learned about the time frame and costs, hire the person you are most comfortable with to get started on your resolution.
