A recent article highlighted two points the author apparently thinks are weaknesses in my campaign: 1.) I support bail reform so people accused of NON-VIOLENT offenses are not needlessly held in jail costing taxpayers thousands of dollars and 2.) because a Political Action Committee (“PAC”) has come out in support of my campaign.
First, it is ILLEGAL for candidates and PAC’s to coordinate or work together. I have not received or accepted a single dollar from the referenced PAC nor have I coordinated with them. BUT, the amount of racist and anti-semitic messages and comments I have seen and/or received in reference to PAC activity in this race over the last few weeks have been both staggering and eye-opening. I see how far we still must go, and I WILL NOT BE DETERRED.
Second, if the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and my opponent are PRO locking up hundreds and thousands of people accused of NON-VIOLENT offenses, then I am HAPPY to be on the right side of this issue. I am Alicia Walton, and I am for bail reform that does not result in needlessly locking up people accused of NON-VIOLENT offenses at the expense of Pulaski and Perry county taxpayers. I am running to be YOUR prosecuting attorney because I believe the criminal justice system should work for the impoverished, the unsheltered, and the forgotten, not just the affluent. In short, I believe the criminal justice system should work for EVERYONE.
Remember! Early voting continues now through May 23 and election day is May 24! Vote Alicia Walton for Prosecuting Attorney!
