A trip to the Veterans Memorial Cemetery today.

On this solemn Memorial Day, we pay tribute to our fallen veterans. Memorial Day, originally named "Decoration Day" started on May 30, 1868, by General John A. Logan of the Grand Army of the Republic, after the Civil War. The holiday got its name from the ritual of placing flowers on graves of Civil War soldiers. In 1971, Memorial Day became a federal holiday. Please remember all of our veterans, today and every day.

We visited the American Museum of Tort Law in Winsted, Connecticut, founded by Ralph Nader. Learn about Fisher Price toys that are choking hazards, pencils that catapult across rooms in elementary schools and the Corvair crashes!

We want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and look forward to seeing you all in the New Year. Apparently Santa liked the angel cookies I set out for him, more than the rum!

Happy Veteran's Day, originally called Armistice Day, marks the anniversary of the end of World War I. It is always observed on November 11th because the War formally ended in 1918 when the Armistice with Germany went into effect at the 11th hour of the 11th day of November (the 11th month of the year).

On this Veteran's Day, we thank ALL veterans for their service and sacrifice to our country. I want to call out a few veterans who hold a special place in my heart: Clem Labine, Dudley P. Perry, Robert & Collette Gershkoff and Alfonso Passquarelli. Who are your special veterans? Let's make a list.

On July 2nd, 1776, the Continental Congress voted in favor of the Lee Resolution for our independence from Great Britain. The only holdout was the New York delegation which abstained, but later affirmed the vote. Two days later, the Congress formerly adopted our Declaration of Independence, penned mostly by Thomas Jefferson.

Our law office will closed today through the weekend, in honor of this great anniversary. HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!

We lost our beautiful baby boy, Fuzzy, on Father's Day. Attached is a copy of his obituary which was published in the Providence Journal:

FUZZY PARELLA GERSHKOFF of Lincoln, RI, formerly of Riverside, RI, born on February 19, 2003, gracefully left this earth on Sunday, June 16, 2024, after an exceptional life of 21 years. He leaves his parents, Susan and Robin Gershkoff, his grandmother, Barbara Labine, his aunt, Elizabeth Parella, his surrogate aunts, Michelle Laramee and Kimberly Hawthorne, his great aunt, Sue Corrigan, his spiritual supporter, Anne LaFrance, his nieces, Dianna and Inde, and many, many friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Kelly and Ruth Parella and his big brothers, Maxwell and Paidan. Fuzzy was a sweet, loving boy. In his early years, he loved chasing mommy’s laser watch around the house. As a daring teenager, he once ended up in the refrigerator, only to be sprung loose after his brothers held court in the kitchen, staring and meowing at the appliance. Although the pay was a pittance, Fuzzy’s passion and part-time job was bird watching, either by leaping into his hammock in the windowsill, or relaxing by the front door in the sun. Fuzzy enjoyed his nightly “cocktail cheese” with his family. After dinner, he looked forward to his cardio workouts, in and out of the “tube”, often chasing Santa and batting his “pea” around. Fuzzy really knew how to take care of himself. He had the most amazing yoga poses in his repertoire! By all accounts, Fuzzy’s most anticipated evening activities were “spa time”: a really good brushing, followed by his absolutely all-time favorite pastime of sitting on mommy’s lap. Dear Fuzzy, your favorite sleeping spots are now empty, but hold your memories. Good night sweet Fuzzman- you brought us unimaginable love and joy. We miss you madly.
