Kids college bound?
My oldest will be a freshman at Louisville in the fall. I'm currently sitting through a family orientation and there is a lot of information, but one thing is missing: estate planning.
If your college-bound "child" is 18, they are an adult. And they may still need mom, dad, or their guardian to assist them with getting a replacement debit card, depositing a check, or any number of small tasks. A power of attorney can help your student go off to college while enabling a trusted adult to be able to help facilitate their financial affairs.
They may also want to name a parent or another trusted adult as a healthcare surrogate to make medical decisions if they aren't able to make decisions for themselves.
These documents can be tailored for individual circumstances and they may not be right for everyone, but If simplifying your student's transition into adulthood please feel free to contact Brackney Law Office, PLLC.
