It is Facebook official! I have joined forces with Jones Law, PLLC effective the first of this year. I will still be working out of the same office location as I have been. My existing contact information will still reach me, but the ability to reach someone quickly when I am in Court will improve. Zack brings with him extensive experience in contract and construction law, which expands our ability to serve Marshall County and surrounding areas. We hope to roll out even more services in the coming year. For current clients, there will be no substantive changes to my existing representation. I will still be your lawyer. I will be reaching out individually to answer any questions that you might have. For those interested in addressing new legal matters, please click the link to Jones Law and contact me via that number for the fastest response. We look forward to further serving your legal needs in Marshall County, and in Middle Tennessee. Thank you!

A Veteran is someone who at some point wrote a blank check made payable to the United States of America, for an amount, up to, and including, their life. We have had more than a few armed conflicts over the past several decades. And we have certainly had our share of casualties. We honor our combat veterans every year, and we should. On this day, I also recognize the men and women who served between the conflicts. The ones who during their tour watched colleagues injured or killed in training accidents on a live fire range. Or died as a result of aircraft crash. Some had parachute malfunctions. Maybe hypothermia while training. Soldiers have been run over by tracks in the field and had aircraft land on top of them. Military vehicles have accidents too. More than I care to count, simply pushed the envelope too far, while off duty, in a career field that encourages walking the edge. We lose service members daily to scars and chemical effects that went for years unseen. So to all who wore the uniform, your participation in all of the things that support this great nation are appreciated. Especially on this Veteran’s Day. We all wrote the same check.

I though I would share information regarding changes to the Tennessee handgun laws for July 1st. Notably, permits still required in certain areas. If one has a DUI conviction in the last 5 years (or two in the last ten) then they can not carry a weapon for the purpose of being armed. Stalking and domestic assault are now both disqualifying offenses to carry a weapon. I am attaching a few of the circulars I have seen that lay it all out well.

In an effort to get as much information out to people as possible, without spending inordinate time on the phone, the Tennessee Supreme Court has suspended all in person court proceedings and jury trials until the end of March. As individual cases are reset, I will be contacting individuals on an individual basis, once I have new dates. The backlogs will be lengthy.

01/04/2021

I am hopeful that our phone issues have resolved, and look forward to a better 2021 for all of us!

The office has an ongoing phone system issue that has rendered our office line unusable. Please default to the office mobile 615-241-0040 for the next few days. I will be checking this line periodically until we are through the holiday period. I am hopeful our office line will be back on line soon.

12/25/2020

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy and safe holiday.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Child Support for Marshall Chancery Court is on June 10 (which also includes the previous April 15 dicket) and on July 8 (which also includes the previous March 18 docket and the May 6 docket). General Sessions Criminal began sessions today. Lewisburg City Court begins sessions Monday May 11th. Circuit had a docket on Friday May 8th. I am told security will check temps at the door and everyone has to wear a mask. Participants will be spread out and numbers inside the courtroom limited to ten. This may take a little time to streamline and adjust. I understand there is some effort to start assigning time slots for specific cases. If you need specific information about a particular case, please contact your attorney, caseworker or clerk. Be safe everyone!

The Tennessee Supreme Court has extended the restrictions pertaining to in person proceedings until the end of April. I do not have reset dates yet for the cases that were previously reset into April. Should you have questions, please contact your attorney. I will notify my own clients as I receive information. We have been able to facilitate some legal matters using available technology, but aside from purely uncontested matters, emergency matters, and proceedings not requiring witness testimony, we are still looking at some measure of delay. We have been able to move some probate matters and uncontested divorce hearings. Everything is case by case otherwise. I hope everyone is doing what they can to stay safe. Best wishes for everyone in this.
